Flashback to the BMX racing scene of the early 1980's. Kids who'd grown up on BMX tracks found themselves looking for ways to apply their bike skills and chase the rush of dirt jumping. Add some inspiration from skateboarding into the mix, and a fresh phenomenon was primed and ready to explode. Freestyle was the early name for this form of bicycle manipulation. This is the Freestylin' magazine retrospective, a slab of memories and reflections from a lost era. Freestylin' was there to tell the story and document the creativity coming from the first generation of riders whose actions defined a new sport. Design direction from Andy Jenkins, word director from Mark Lewman, and photo direction from Spike Jonze.
